Orlando, Dr Phillips & Windermere Roofer, Quality at an Affordable Price!

Some home repairs shouldn’t be put off, your roof is definitely one of them. There are common roof problems in the Dr. Phillips area, here are a few to keep your eye out for. Remember, the earlier you catch a problem and have it repaired, the more money you will save!

It is inevitable that roofing materials will deteriorate, especially with the amount of direct exposure to the sun we get here in Central Florida. Combined with severe weather and pollutants, accelerating the decay.

Lack of Maintenance

Next to weather, lack of maintenance is the top reason for roofing material to fail. Just like everything else in your home, your roof needs attention, remove any debris, leaves and moss, clean gutters and downspouts, and perform regular inspections.

Inspection and Repairs

Examine the exterior of the roof for wear and tear:

Inspect your roof for any missing, torn or cracked shingles
Look for any excessive wear and tear, worn spots, such as shingle granules in the gutters, they look similar to grains of sand
Examine the roof for wear around pipes, vents (dryer, kitchen and bathrooms), and around chimneys
Visually look for any wet areas, mold or rot
Check the drainage, ensure all downspouts and gutters are free of debris and securely attached
If your roof is tile look for any cracked or broken tiles

With a flashlight look for these signs inside the attic:

Water leaks, damage or rotten wood
Light shining through from outside
Sagging on the roof deck
Dark trails or spots
Look for any water stains on the walls or ceiling.

Rooftop equipment

Roofing equipment such as satellite antennas, A/C compressor and other components should be given special attention. They should never be placed or installed directly on the roofing membrane.

Though roof maintenance and inspection may seem time consuming and like a lot of work, in the long run they can end up saving you thousands and extend the life of your roof.

Finding any type of damage to your roof can be alarming, but having a trusted roofer can make it easier. As a leader in the industry, our goal at Schick Roofing is to repair any water leaks in your roof and install new roofs that can stand up to the wear and tear of the Central Florida harsh weather for decades.
